Sir Terry Pratchett (1948–2015) was an English author famous for his 41-book Discworld series and co-writing Good Omens with Neil Gaiman. His first novel, The Carpet People, was published in 1971, with the first Discworld novel, The Colour of Magic, appearing in 1983. Pratchett sold over 100 million books in 43 languages, was the UK's best-selling author in the 1990s, received a knighthood in 2009, and won the Carnegie Medal for The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents in 2001. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2007, he supported research and documented his journey with the condition. Pratchett passed away in 2015, leaving a lasting legacy in fantasy literature.
