@dillion1920 I think it is because, in order to convert ckpt into safetensor we have to first load the ckpt. If the ckpt already has malware, then when you load the model, your system will get infected. That, I believe, is why everyone nowadays requests that the model's author to upload a safetensor version. I'm not an expert, if anyone knows better, please correct me.
