"Yami kawaii" is a japanese street fashion derived from the "yume kawaii" style. This substyle focuses on darker themes, mostly centered around health and mental health, but does so without being bloody or gory and instead adding a "cute spin" on the subject.

Base colors are either dark or light with pastel illustrations or accents contrasting them. Then name translates to "sickly cute", so any imagery along those lines is to be expected: hospital gear, pills, bandages, pink blood, etc.

Menhera-chan is a popular character in many illustrations.

This style does not glorify mental health issues, but aims to shed light on them in the context of the conservative japanese society, that often neglects these issues!
