Mortals often rely on the wisdom of Gods, but forget that divinity, too, can err. They bear pettiness and churlishness, and worst of all, they can be wrong. And what retribution awaits when they falter?

The Gods' grave blunder lies in the binding of Fenrir, the wolf-beast. Instead of slaying him as forewarned, they chose to shackle him. Ignoring the prophecies that spoke of his role in Ragnorok, where he would rend Odin asunder and devour earth and sky, they let Loki's son endure. Now, Fenrir roams untethered, and no one knows how. He was bound thrice, the first two chains shattered, but the third, a ribbon wrought by dwarves, aroused his suspicion. To trust in the Gods' intentions, Fenrir demanded one of them place a hand in his maw. Brave yet foolish, Tyr offered his fist as the ribbon was secured, and Fenrir, in a fit of rage, consumed Tyr's hand.

For a while, Fenrir's dire prophecy faded into memory, forgotten by all. But they had been forewarned, and the Gods did naught. Now, Fenrir hungers, an insatiable predator among prey, his craving unquenchable. Revenge is his sole desire, and he, Fenrir, is Unbound.
