    SonSon (ソンソン) is a character introduced in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. A brave and adventurous young monkey girl, she is the granddaughter of the hero of the same name, from the 1984 Capcom game SonSon. When her village is suddenly afflicted with a mysterious disease, she takes up the magical bo staff inherited from her grandfather, the Ruyi Jingu Bang, and sets out to find the cause. SonSon, Ruby Heart and MvC2's other original characters serve as the central protagonists in the game, gathering heroes from across parallel universes to fight an entity known as Abyss.
