A culture adapted to the harsh Arabian desert, Bedouin tribes continue to live pastoral nomadic lives in tents even today. Many of the stereotypical cultural depictions of Arabic Culture stems from the more specific Bedouin culture, including sword dances, camel and sheep herding, and belly dances.

The harsh desert heat in the day, cold at night, sandstorms and majority religious belief in Islam have all contributed to the style of clothes. The loose robes called Thobe, protect the skin from sun burn, while allowing for cooling air circulation and an insulative pocket of air around the body. Head covering like the Keffiyeh for men and the hijab or headscarf for women serve a similar purpose. Despite covering most of the body, the women use of jewelry, embroidery and makeup to showcase tribal identity, personal flair, marital status and interpersonal relations. Accessories are also used for ritual and practical wards against dangers like the evil eye and scorpions.
