When the ferrous brewer joined Fithe Bladestone’s company of dwarves, he came with a goat-drawn forge cart that clanged with cookware and reeked of spirits and sass. His tousled hair gave the impression he’d just rolled out of bed. Maybe he had, because he was dressed in a bathrobe.

“I heard you needed reinforcements,” he said and sipped brew from a stone tankard.

He wears that same robe into battle and acts like he’s on holiday. No urgency. Just a relaxed grin and a lackadaisical attitude, like no matter what happens, everything’s going to turn out all right.

And somehow, it does. When he charges into the fray with a mug of ale in one hand and an axe in the other, he never misses, carving through armor and shrugging off hexes like lady luck walks at his side.

The other dwarves don’t get it. The stakes are too high. If Oridum Graybrow uncovers the secret of Praetoria, the Conclave Arcana will be unstoppable, and the rebellion will have been for nothing. Never mind that the dwarves are vastly outnumbered. Reinforcements are days away, if they come at all. Every battle feels like it could be the end.

But the brewer? He’s just out here living his best life.

Mid-charge, he pauses to sip from his ferrous brew. “War moves pretty fast,” he says. “If you don’t stop and enjoy the bloodshed once in a while, you could miss it.”
