Françoise Hardy (b. 1944) is a French singer-songwriter. She was a leading figure in the yé-yé wave of French pop music in the 1960s (alongside France Gall) and had a top-selling career that ranged from rock to pop to chanson and lasted into the 2010s, all connected by her breathy vocals and melancholic worldview. She was also an icon of French 1960s cool, appearing on countless magazine covers and serving as a muse to a long list of fashion houses. Bob Dylan wrote her a poem; Mick Jagger once described her as his "ideal woman."
