Mushiri (also called Mushi-iri) is a rugged style of the Japanese chonmage. While a typical samurai would keep the top of his head cleanly shaved, a person sporting a "Mushiri" style lets that hair grow into a messy stubble. It is often used in period dramas to depict a Ronin or a tough outlaw who has either lost his status or doesn't care for societal norms.
