The newest version of AnimeSharp, intended to be more faithful to the original image. It's very smooth, retains almost all detail in the original image, and does not produce an oversharpened look.
If you're looking for a more faithful anime upscaler that can still handle a lot of artifacts, this is it.

Are you the author of 4X-AnimeSharp? I love using it.
Also, does 2X mean the total pixel area is doubled, or is the width and height each doubled?
Hi, I am! A 2x model will double the number of pixels on each axis. So a 256x256 image becomes 512x512.
@Kim2091 might be a bit of a silly question, why would you need a 2x model when you have a 4x?
@arknesspoke Not a silly question 🙂
2x models are usually more useful for upscaling anime. 4x models usually result in an output that's a bit too large, and ends up having more artifacts as a result. You can only get so much useful data out of an input image.
2x cleans up the image quite a lot but still looks clean 😊

Anyway, this model is a total overhaul compared to V1. It uses a new dataset, and is focused on being more faithful rather than being quite as sharp. I just decided to also make it 2x because of what I explained above.
