It's best not to use speed LORAs. Lightning Loras, both the 4- and 8-step ones, degrade the quality of style LORAs (at least all the ones I've trained to date).

Whenever I try this lora for a 16:9 widescreen image, I get solid black blocks on left and right of the image. Is there any way I can stop that happening?
Try using "cinematic black stripes, letterbox, black side stripes" in the negative prompt.
This fixed it in the tests I ran where I had the same problem.
