Qwen Image VAE Sharp and Sharp Plus is an enhanced variant of the standard Qwen Image VAE, tuned for stronger fine detail, cleaner edges, and improved micro-contrast.

Sharp (BF16/FP32) - A color-shift-free VAE that preserves the original quality while slightly improving sharpness and micro-contrast details.

Sharp Plus (BF16/FP32) – A stable, quality-focused VAE that delivers an optimal balance of sharpness, fine detail, edge clarity, and natural image quality.

Sharp Ultra (BF16/FP32) - An aggressive sharpening VAE that significantly improves fine-edge response, overall edge strength, high-frequency detail, and edge density.

The Sharp version delivers a crisper, more detailed reconstruction while maintaining the original colors, composition, and overall look. Ideal for realistic images, portraits, architecture, vehicles, sci-fi scenes, and highly textured artwork.

Enable: --fp32-vae flag for ComfyUI for FP32 VAE.

I downloaded the full size images and put them on top of each other in Photoshop. Even at 16x zoom there is no visible difference between at all. With layer mode "Difference" I get a completely black picture (i.e. no difference).

Actually not completely black. There are occasional pixels with values (0,0,1) or (1,0,0).

So, your claim is bogus, unless you can show better examples.

I sadly have to agree that I barely find any differences when comparing it with qwen_image_vae. No sharpening effect in any of my tests. Maybe it needs certain circumstances to make a notable difference? :/

overhyped scam vae from a fraud again like before, + and they sold it for 100 buzz each during the early access.
Also, I had enough downloading "custom"/"fine-tuned" SDXL vaes that were just the default sdxl vae. This sharp krea 2 vae is not sharper than the pretrained one, the difference is almost nothing

@lizardon1024 > Maybe it needs certain circumstances to make a notable difference?
they probably just used a simple sharp filter, and a slightly adjusted random LoRA to make it a bit different

@Karl_Knecht Thanks for the feedback. This is my first VAE release. I’ll soon release a more aggressive Sharp Plus VAE without early access. I’m still researching how to fully train a VAE, and I think I’ll be able to do it soon. My main priority with this VAE is to prevent any color shifting while slightly increasing sharpness, which is why the difference may feel subtle.

@shoes22 Thanks for the feedback. This is not a scam. If you don’t need early access, you can wait before trying it. The 100 Buzz costs about $0.10. I’ll soon release a VAE Plus version without early access, with a much more aggressive sharpening effect. If you bought early access and are unhappy with it, I can refund your 100 Buzz. The possible issue with this VAE is that I was too cautious because I wanted to prevent any color shifts.

The new version, Sharp Plus VAE (FP32/BF16), has been released. Please re-download or update the VAE. This version includes major changes, such as true sharpening and stronger detail enhancement. New full-resolution comparison images are now available on Civitai and Google Drive. Thanks!

@MM744 The new version definitely now sharpens the output image a lot, well done! The sharper results don't always look better and can lead to some artefacts when upscaling but if you use Krea 2 for both generation and upscaling, you can simply generate with the default VAE and use the sharpening VAE only during upscaling to prevent those artefacts :)

@shoes22 looking at your images in your profile definitely not gonna trust your words, i tested vae and it was good. This is not reddit

@Addictedd civitai doesn't deserve my images..and you feel for the original "sharp" VAE, hahaha. You can continue dislikebombing my comments, it is clear it was for the initial vae, not sharp plus. and I do not use reddit.
"definitely not gonna trust your words", doesn't bother me

@Karl_Knecht Maybe you could delete this whole conversation now that sharp plus actually works. It only leads to misunderstandings ^^"
