Jordi Bernet Style — Hardboiled Ink & Pulp Comic Illustration | SDXL LoRA

The city never sleeps. It just changes cigarettes.

This SDXL style LoRA is trained on the artwork of Jordi Bernet, with a particular emphasis on the visual language that makes his work so immediately recognizable: muscular black inks, expressive caricature, economical linework, hard-edged shadows, exaggerated perspective, limited but forceful colour, and characters who look as though they've already had a very long night.

Bernet is famous for making people act on the page. Gangsters crowd around a craps game. A beaten-down man folds beneath the weight of his own bad decisions. Cooks command a chaotic kitchen. Boxers loom like mountains. Glamorous women, lowlifes, cops, bruisers and assorted unfortunate souls occupy worlds built from ink, gesture and attitude.

That range was an important goal of this LoRA.

It was trained to capture a style rather than a particular subject, and testing deliberately pushed it away from the obvious hardboiled material into kitchens, vineyards, boxing rooms, glamour, crowds and other scenes. It handles both colour and black-and-white work, intimate character pieces and busy multi-character compositions.

Expect bold silhouettes, strong spot blacks, angular and sometimes grotesque faces, graphic folds and anatomy, cinematic viewpoints, expressive body language and a distinctly hand-drawn European pulp-comics character.

It can lean naturally toward crime and noir because those subjects fit the learned visual language extremely well, but you don't have to give it a gun, a fedora and a bad alibi. Try ordinary people, unusual occupations, historical scenes, fantasy, romance, comedy, domestic situations or whatever else shouldn't reasonably belong in a back alley at two in the morning.

Sometimes that's where it gets interesting.

Start around 1.0 weight and adjust to taste. Prompt the subject and scene you actually want rather than stuffing the prompt with style terminology—the LoRA is quite capable of bringing its own ink.
