About this style
Necrowave is a dark, cinematic horror illustration style inspired by cyberpunk dystopia, gothic horror, dark comic book art, and occult iconography. It combines deep shadow with a striking contrast of glowing crimson and cold teal light, moody atmosphere, and painterly graphic rendering. Its signature is a sense of dread and decay inside a futuristic world, with menacing figures, glowing eyes, ruined architecture, and cold machine light cutting through the dark.
What it aims for
Heavy, cinematic dread with a dystopian edge
Crimson and teal lighting against deep black shadow
Bold, graphic painterly rendering with a dark comic book feel
Imposing silhouettes, glowing eyes and strong focal points
Quiet, unsettling details in the dark background
Works well for
Dark cyberpunk and dystopian horror scenes
Gothic and occult characters, cultists, wraiths and armored figures
Haunted ruins, cathedrals and decaying cityscapes
Monsters, undead and machine horror concept art
Important note about the Krea 2 files:
I initially created quite a lot of images using Epoch 8, but much later in the process, contrary to my first impression, I realized just how much better Epoch 10 actually was. So I went back and regenerated everything using Epoch 10, and I'm getting noticeably better results about 90% of the time.
However, I'm still including the earlier epoch because, despite its shortcomings, it can actually work better for certain cinematic shots and produces some dramatically different results compared to Epoch 10. You might find it useful for specific cases.
Also, keep in mind that all the example images were generated locally at just 4 steps. This is pretty much the worst possible quality setting, dictated by my hardware limitations. You'll definitely get better results with more steps or by using the BF16 version instead of the quantized one.
