    Gustave Doré (1832-1883) was a French artist and illustrator best known for his wood engravings and illustrations of classic literature. He was a prolific artist, producing over 4,000 illustrations for books, magazines, and other publications. His most famous works include illustrations for Dante's Divine Comedy, Milton's Paradise Lost, and Cervantes' Don Quixote.
