Shaun Friend (alias Craww) is a British artist, known for his evocative, melancholic figurative work.

Born in 1975 and based near Sheffield, UK, Craww is a self-taught artist who transitioned from a career in graphic design to full-time art in his mid-forties. His work explores contradictions and ambiguities—life and death, strength and fragility—often rendered through feminine figures, skulls, birds, and flowing organic forms.

Craww’s style blends elegance and disciplined chaos, using oils, acrylics, graphite, charcoal, and ink. His compositions feel like stream-of-consciousness rambles through nature, revealing hidden stories and emotional depth. He’s exhibited internationally, notably with Arch Enemy Arts, and participated in Urban Nation’s Project M/14 in Berlin.
