Description
A common complaint is that the realistic versions of Pony Diffusion V6 XL hardly resembled the original anymore. V9 is no exception to that. But I see it more as a standalone checkpoint that just works really well. It's extremely NSFW, so if you're easily offended, this one’s not for you.
There are two versions available. This version or the alternative version with the standard SDXL VAE. Choosing between the standard and this alternative version just comes down to personal taste.

"The modified version uses the standard SDXL VAE."
Just wondering if there's any reason to prefer the modified version over the one here on Civitai. Thanks!
No, no really a well thought reason. I will try to add this version also on Civitai
Done, other version is also uploaded here
@Cyberdelia it became not entirely clear, now two alt versions are loaded, which one is with VAE?
@glikodin1987965 Both. Alt1 is standard XL, alt2 is some contrasty VAE. Purely cosmetic.
@stephendrelick621 @glikodin1987965 Exactly. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to explain/show the difference yesterday. The site had issues right after I had downloaded everything and was working on the images.
You learn something new everyday it seems. I've had a separate VAE node in my workflow applying the "original" sdxl_vae for as long as I can remember and I had no idea some checkpoints actually have a VAE built-in. Personal heureka moment!
@Bromeo lol but sdxl_vae standard is not a bad thing.
@Cyberdelia Stop, dear Cyberdelia! Let me have my dummy moment! :D
(Also thanks for the new update. Really appreciate your efforts!)
@Cyberdelia For me, it only works when I apply to regular sdxl_vae. In the A1111 webui, if I used "Automatic" or "None" I also get a black image. Is this a known limitation with a1111 or is it something I'm doing wrong? How can I use the default built in VAE you cooked in V9 Atl1 for example.
Hey Friend, I love your work!! What is the difference between Alt1 and 2 of this new V9? Thanks!!
I wasn’t able to clarify the difference yesterday because the site ran into issues just after I had downloaded everything and started working on the images. Alt 1 uses the standard SDXL VAE (probably the most compatible), while Alt 2 includes a custom VAE. The difference is purely cosmetic.
Cool, thanks!!
Thanks for sharing your cool model. could you please summarize briefly what is the exact difference between 8.5 and 9.0 (both of them). asking for your personal opinion, do you think 9.0 is better? worth replacing 8.5?
It's difficult to say - some people prefer V8, others might lean toward V8.5 or even older versions. Personally, I like V9. It's built differently from the previous versions, which is why it's not just called V8.6.
@Cyberdelia it makes me so happy that people are still improving sdxl in the year of our lord, it's still truly the best at a lot of things not just NSFW
@Cyberdelia Its definitely better at poses, almost no failed poses.
Ponyv2 negative is good too, but i need test it more. Im still waiting for the simple most important thing to implement from XL database.
@Cyberdelia Special thanks also for the wonderful archive versions from HF! Some compositional and physiognomic successes were possible only with versions 4 and 4.1, even if they are not as realistic as the latest versions.
@windlike_gust try my Semi-Realistic Pony version (uploaded today). It's more like these older version.
If you are confused

thanks. between this model for imaging, and framepack for long form i2v video to bring your images to life... what a time to be alive.
Danke!
I don't know why, but v8.5 delivers much better results and also follows the prompt more precisely. The faces are also better with v8.5. The recommended embedding makes the faces much worse.
also you can only get a good picture in comfyui with the EulerA sampler, DPM++ SDE or DPMPP2m makes the picture very blotchy/broken.
Why would you use SDE or PP2? Slow and shit. Just use 2m(Karras, Align Your Steps) or 2msde Karras.
Maybe check this release: https://civitai.com/models/1502316/cyberrealistic-pony-catalyst
I have the same results as you.
Fantastic Job with Version 9 alt1. The colors are really equilibrated, it is the first pony model that archived photorealistic colors I have found. Thanks for your hard work.
well done
Oh come on, I JUST finished downloading 8.5!
Hell, what internet speed you have, if it lasted 1.5 month to download it?
@bryanperez637 I just wanted to give the same reply :)
@bryanperez637
Wasn't doing anything with AI generation for a while, came back, downloaded 8.5, hello 9.0.
@AImodels4me2use :) try both, see what works for you and keep that version.
@Cyberdelia
Well yeah. It's not like I was complaining to you, or anyone. It's just as I said, I came back, downloaded the newest one at the time, then come back later to find another one got released. What I initially posted was my reaction, and I figured some might find that amusing, which evidently some did, so that's it.
The difference v9 (alt2) to v8.5 is astonishing! The same prompt and all other settings create a completly different result
Correct. That's why it's V9 instead of V8.6. I changed a lot in it's base.
@Cyberdelia A showcase how huge it is https://civitai.com/posts/15945749 😮
Nice models and quick speed too, congrats!
Dear Mr. Author, after nearly 20 hours of testing, I've roughly compared the differences between v8.5 and v9. Firstly, v9 is a more stable version compared to v8.5. The fault tolerance rate of the workflow has significantly increased compared to before, and the image generation speed has increased by approximately 3%. However, the problem with v9 is that it is so stable that it is not sensitive to many high - weight prompt words. Moreover, the quality of the images it generates is too homogenized. Although the defective product rate has decreased, there are also many fewer opportunities to generate stunning masterpieces.
May I ask if these defects are normal, or is there something wrong with my operation method?
Can you try this release (don't test it for 20 hours ;) )
https://civitai.com/models/1502316/cyberrealistic-pony-catalyst
How do you think it is compared to V9?
@Cyberdelia It's great. It only took 1h to conclude that V10 is excellent.
@zrtian0302931 nice
Great job. From my testing with each so far, v7.0/v7.0a still has my favorite look of the models for the faces (when it works), but v9 definitely feels more stable. Less extra fingers, skin feels a little more natural, and I could swear breasts have seemingly a feeling of more natural sag even. So I may stick with 7.0a for now, but I like the options! In some ways it's more like a style choice now.

So is CyberRealistic_Negative_PONY_V2-neg recommended for 9.0, or the negative prompts listed in the description, or both?
You get more realism with it definitely. Faces will be worse.
@combot just use what works best for you. Don't use them both. Maybe it works together :) didn't try it.
@Cyberdelia Why wouldnt work? They are just prompts.
@georgerobson338 sure, it will work for sure :) but it's a bit overkill. OP Question was MUST I use them both.
@Cyberdelia Hey your new model is new Civ law exclusive? I mean you made a Purityguard embed, which is perfectly resonate with the new Tos.:))
You made it, before it was cool:))) You knew something.
@georgerobson338 I also generated an image featuring a pope in the Purtitygauard and a few days later... We all know what happened next
@Cyberdelia Omg
nice
watermarks and artist signatures seem to appear more in v9 but other than that great work!
Yes, I know it. I can say that I did it consciously, but you probably won't believe me ;).
It's almost gone in: https://civitai.com/models/1502316/cyberrealistic-pony-catalyst
@Cyberdelia yeah I've playing around with catalyst. It seems that catalyst and v8.5 are similar when starting from the same seed.
@alyla It's true that these two checkpoints have similarities with each other. Not in terms of quality, but more in terms of look and feel, right?.
@Cyberdelia yeah quality differs. similar poses and composition.
I think fingers and hands improved. Thank you.
